In 1870 the first Missouri-Kansas-Texas train rolled into a new town in southeast Kansas, that would become Parsons, and the railroad would be remembered as the Katy!
One-hundred forty-six years later, Parsons celebrates its railroad heritage and town history with the Katy Days Festival. Renew old friendships, rekindle memories and enjoy three days of food, fun, entertainment and railroad-related activities.
Admin. Prof Luncheon Coffee
This event is a luncheon for Administrative Professionals and their bosses. This is a great way to recognize and thank all the administrative professionals for all they do throughout the year. Cost of lunch is $15 per person or $25 for two, which includes lunch, a gift for the administrative professional, and a chance to win an item from the drawing.
This event showcases individuals holding legislative offices in the area. Area representatives are given a short time period to describe their stance on different issues. The community is invited to meet them and ask questions.
Dawg Daze Festival
This is a car, truck, and motorcycle show. Open for anyone to enter their vehicle. Typically the awards are handed out around 3 pm. Door prizes are given out throughout the day. There are inflatables and other activities for the children as well as food and craft vendors.
This event showcases area artists that create a variety of art such as 2D, 3D, Fiber, Performance, and Photography. This is a judged art exhibit so those who participate have the opportunity to be recognized for what they love to do. Also, there is an area for children to display their art.
Much like a back to school bash with food vendors, music, and businesses staying open late with tons of retail specials!
Free event to the community, come see the Parsons Fireworks display!
3 person team golf tournament with prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive. Plus, door prizes that are given after the round is over. Lunch is provided for each team entered. This year the tournament will be at the Katy Golf Course.
This event is currently for school-aged children to learn about Farm Heritage. There are lots of things to learn about such as rock crushing, milking cows, and what it was like to live in a stone house.
Veterans Day Parade
This event is a way to recognize our local veterans. Many veterans can ride in the parade on floats or in vehicles. The event is coordinated with the celebration at the local VFW and a community lunch at the Parsons Elks Lodge that is free for all veterans and affordable for everyone else.
The event showcases our local merchants and promotes shopping locally.
The largest parade in Parsons! This event features many homemade and professional floats, as well as cars and business vehicles. Awards are given to floats for Best Use of Lighting, Homemade float, Professional float, and Best Band.

Come meet Santa & Mrs. Clause and get your picture taken with them!
Main St. Christmas
This event is a fundraiser for local charities. All money collected goes to a local charity. The concert offers to the public a night of Christmas music. Duke Mason has been a featured performer.
Pre-k through 2nd grade participates in a contest to see who raises the most money. Containers are displayed at area businesses and one penny = one vote. One boy and one girl are selected and win prizes and the opportunity to ride in the Christmas Parade.
Holiday Lighting Contest
This event is a collaboration with Westar Energy. Contestants decorate their houses for the Christmas season in hopes that Santa will surprise them with a special surprise! Categories are individual home, neighborhood, and business.
