Love Labette Week

Loving our neighbors through kind acts of service

What if we all pitched in…

Neighbors, friends, families, groups, and individuals are essential to making any community thrive. We are encouraging everyone to make an effort to serve others during the week of Earth Day by intentionally practicing big and small acts of kindness.

To encourage others to join our efforts, we invite everyone to upload photos of your activities to your favorite social media and use #LoveLabette.

Need ideas? Here are just a few!

  • Organize a park or street cleanup

  • Plant trees or start a community garden

  • Organize a block party clean up and invite neighbors to help each other out with outdoor chores like picking up sticks and trash, planting flowers, or removing other debris from sidewalks and celebrate your efforts afterward with a cookout or garden party

  • Help at a senior center (play games, read, or just chat)

  • Host a free workshop at your local library on a skill you have (e.g., coding, painting, resume writing)

  • Start a community podcast or blog featuring local heroes

  • Make greeting cards for hospital patients, seniors, or military members

  • Create kindness rocks with uplifting messages and leave them in public places

  • Make thank you cards or small gifts for teachers, firefighters, or police officers

  • Make hygiene kits for shelters with toothbrushes, soap, and other essentials

  • Host a clothing, food, or hygiene product drive for local shelters

  • Make and post a video challenging other groups or families to participate in Love Labette by showing and telling your plans to show love to your neighbors
